Whoever has played least goes first, with new partners each game.

1. The line puts players with the fewest games at the front, so late arrivals catch up.
2. Each game puts together players who have played together least. Partners change and, with skill levels set, the two sides are even.
3. Winners and losers both go to the back of the line. In a small group, two players may stay on for one more game with new faces.
